Week Ten Dance

We are learning about the elements of dance and how to use them to create our own unique dance.

Do you remember the elements?
What do these letters stand for?

BATSER

Body Awareness - being aware of your own body, what it's doing, how you move it

Timing - making a connection between the music and keeping in time with others as well as the beat

Space - using the space - all the corners and different levels - tracing out a space through your movement

Energy - unitising different levels of energy in response to the music

Relationships - working with others - moving together, mirroring, shadowing, showing a connection or disconnection

Inspiration Watch these dance groups and notice which elements of dance they use well.  Can you identify some movements that might be useful to you for your dance?

Our dance story

Part 1. energy and power - showing the shape of the waves and making the sound of them crashing on a beach

Part 2. diving under the waves - forming an underwater scene - meeting Poseidon

Part 3. detecting danger - strong use of expressions on face and freeze frame

Part 4. flight - escape - free swimming - using all the space and working with a buddy

Part 5. drifting and floating like jelly fish or plankton slowly spiralling in an anticlockwise direction

Part 6. giant jellyfish all together as one
This isn't a dance video, but it is inspirational and creative.
