A Moment in Time!

It was unexpected, sudden, and terrifying.

And it started with a word.

Just a word.

A swearing word (that I can’t write down here).

And then the word got louder.

The rope was tight and heavy.

A whizzing sound filled the chasm like a giant zipper being undone.

With the echo of those bad words bouncing off the walls.

And then it hit me

The dread

The feeling

This isn’t happening

This is a dream

Time slowed, almost froze

I was frozen

Petrified

That could be me – I thought

And the noise of the acceleration

The sound of speed building and growing from deep below us

Fear frozen on all our faces

A boom like hammers smashed against the walls of the abyss and our ears

Horror in the realisation

Then a blood curdling – silence

That told us

He was dead
